Youth
Network is a youth committee comprised of High School Students from Harry S
Truman, Bristol Borough, and Bensalem High That support organize and promote
Social Ventures. Last year Youth network organized 3 large scale
performances for their peers as well as their community. These performances
continue to be one of YN most successful means of engaging area youth, while
offering a unique performance venue for local talents. All events are free and staff
by Neighborhood First Program staff and adult volunteers. By involving youth in
social ventures and giving them opportunities to network, learn new skills, and
share ideas, both youth and the community benefit.
Dream Girls
Dream
Girls is a girls group for middle school girls. The goal of the group is to
build self-esteem, promote leadership, explore new experiences and promote
healthy positive relationships. Throughout the school year participants are
exposed to variety of activities in areas of arts, and culture, female health
and health wellness, outdoor education, gender roles, service learning and
healthy self expression
Empowering and Engagement
The empowering and
Engagement evening program provides both structured and unstructured activities
designed to promote positive social interaction. The activities include one on
one and group discussion, homework assistance, pool, fuse ball, ping-pong,
board games, video games, creative art activities, service learning, leadership
development, educational speakers, and off site adventure outing.
Bucket Drumming Core
Bucket Drumming Core will help youth discover and explore their
talents, and values. In addition to drumming, and teaching them how to be
performers our goal is to provide opportunities for constructive activities
that encourage children to learn and develop healthy self-images and
self-determination. The core offers youth a safe environment where they can
have fun, learn life skills, and interact with other youth.
Job Readiness Program
(JRP)
JRP is an 8 week job training program that will be delivered via a
classroom curriculum. The program is for youth ages 14-21. The program will
offer basic skills training, job readiness skills, job search training, and
career awareness. There will also be a stipend allowance given weekly to each
participant.
Distinguished
Leadership Council
The distinguished Leadership council consists of a group of
juniors and seniors who will come together twice a month to discuss future
endeavors once their high school matriculation is completed. During these
meetings the youth will learn the proper do’s and don’ts of job hunting as well
as ways to promote themselves when it comes down to choosing their right
college and job. Fundraising will also occur to go towards college touring
trips and other events. Life skills will be incorporated in each session to
keep the students mindful of how they should conduct them self’s everyday.
Trailblazer Summer Camp
NFP trailblazer’s summer camps offer several recreational
outdoor adventures and educational trips during July and August. Highlights of
trailblazer’s summer camp include museums, pro ball games, overnight camping,
rock climbing, and kayaking. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for all
participants. Therefore, NFP has a clear and consistent behavior policy. All
participants must commit to an “Agreement of Conduct” at the beginning of each
camp and trip. We ask that participants fully value themselves, each other and
staff, and our environment by following the rules and instructions given.
Inappropriate behavior will be addressed immediately and consequences may
include participants being sent home and/or suspension from future trips.
